Check our Shop Week calendar to see what events are happening in the city to celebrate Shop for Public Schools. These are events for everyone, from in-store receptions to press events to neighborhood gatherings. Tory Burch Cocktail Party & Shop Week Kickoff Reception
Merchant Host: Tory BurchFrom 6pm-8pm join us at 257 Elizabeth Street in Manhattan for an evening of cocktails and shopping, to help kick off Shop for Public Schools 2008. A portion of the evening's proceeds will benefit The Fund for Public Schools.

Shop Kick off press conference
The Fund for Public Schools will hold a press conference (11AM at a central Manhattan location) to kick off the Shop for Public Schools 2008. Attendees to include Mayor Bloomberg, Chancellor Klein, Caroline Kennedy, and Sara Jessica Parker.An Evening of Smiles & Surprises
Merchant Host: World of Disney NYCWorld of Disney NYC will close their store for us and open it as a special benefit for Shop for Public Schools from 6-8PM. Tickets will be sold for $20 and will entitle the shopper to extensive discounts, pictures with Disney characters, autographs from daytime TV talent, refreshments, giveaways, and more.

All proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to Shop for Public Schools.

Children’s Book Reading & Signing
Merchant Host: Books of WonderPlease join us on Sunday October 5th as we welcome 5 wonderfully talented authors and artists who have created some of the funniest picture books of the year.
Sharing their latest publications with us will be Caldecott Honor artists LANE SMITH, illustrator of The Stinky Cheeseman and Other Fairly Stupid Tales, for his hilarious new book, Madame President; author KATE FEIFFER and Caldecott Honor artist DIANE GOODE also take a look at the occupant of the White House in their laugh-filled President Pennybaker; Pulitzer Prize winner JULES FIEFFER will present Explainers: The Complete Village Voice Strips – a collection of his award-winning comic strip and Henry, the Dog With No Tail which was written by his daughter, KATE FEIFFER.; and last, but never least, is former Books of Wonder staff member NICK BRUEL, who’ll introduce us to Bad Kitty Gets A Bath, a companion to his New York Times best-seller, Bad Kitty.
Each of these wonderful authors and artists will present their new book at noon, after which they will take questions from the audience, then sign copies of all their delightful books. Perfect for ages 4 and up.

Merchant Host: American Girl PlaceMeet Valerie Tripp, the award-winning author of dozens of the beloved American Girl historical character books! At this informal session, Ms. Tripp will sign books and read from Really Truly Ruthie, her newest title featuring Kit Kittredge’s best friend Ruthie Smithens. American Girl Place New York will donate a percentage of the day’s sales to The Fund for Public Schools Library REACH initiative as part of Shop for Public Schools.
